New Museum Plans Unveiled

Last Updated: 04 March 2011 at 17:28

We are delighted to announce that the start of building work on Dorking Museum is only weeks away.

Local property developer Mark Eshelby (who grew up on Leith Hill) of Latchmere Properties and Patrick Amos of the architects ABA Group Ltd are joining forces to oversee the renovation of the Old Foundry Building. They are the talented team behind Little Dudley House. Mark has given his Project Management time to the Museum for free, a huge gesture that we are so grateful for.

Mark and Patrick showed us the plans for the new museum. They have created a Museum that up until now we had only dreamed about.

The artefacts will be displayed on the ground floor; and will be kept in conditions that adhere to Museum industry standards.
Archives will move up onto the first floor. Mark and Patrick have given us some natural light up there; but have also made sure that delicate papers and documents will be stored separately in a "strong" room.

We are happy to declare that the future of Dorking Museum is in very safe hands.

Dorking Camera Club will keep a pictorial report of the renovations. These will be published on this website.

Money, as ever, is going to play a big part in this development. If you would like to donate any money to help us; we would very very grateful. You can do that here.
