The Public Art Foundation in partnership with the BBC has launched  of YOUR PAINTINGS, a project to create a complete catalogue of every oil painting in the national collection, on a dedicated website www.bbc.co.uk/yourpaintings.

In all, the national collection amounts to some 200,000 works, held in galleries, museums, libraries and public institutions all over the country, making it probably one of the largest and most diverse collections of paintings in the world.

Dorking Museum is proud to be part of this project; especially at the moment as there is no other way to look at our full beautiful collection of oils.

Now that the collection is online, the PCF are asking the public to "tag" each painting. This will decide how the paintings are catalogued and will allow users to search with their own criteria.

Have a look at our collection on the Your Paintings website here. For a quick tutorial on tagging; have a look here. It would save us a job and also raise awareness of Dorking Museums collection.
